On 19th November, the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) held the North East Awards for Planning Excellence 2020. 

The BIS were recently shortlisted for the award and have been been announced as joint winners! Congratulations to Hartlepool Borough Council and all of the other people who were involved in the regeneration of this fantastic grade II listed building.

The BIS is a beautifully restored former Post Office building in Whitby Street. The area is now home to a community of creative industry sector SMEs. This is a managed workspace by Hartlepool Borough Council and has a variety of businesses in the unit ranging from artists, designers and digital businesses. 

The BIS was mentioned as a “inspiring example of team work and partnership”.
