On Monday 15 January, Carillion PLC announced its decision to begin insolvency proceedings, with a regional impact of 100 job losses from the Gosforth branch and additional losses expected from Carillion contracts in the housing and construction industry. The Cabinet Office has announced that the government will continue to deliver all public sector services following the insolvency.
